Wine and Nature

Walking along the Duero river, biking along the historical canal of Castile, horse riding through the vineyards, bird watching in a nature reserve…

Thousands of ways to become immersed in wine and nature, both articulated by the Duero River. On both sides of the river you will find surprising landscapes, sometimes evoking the desert, other times the moon and suddenly, once a year,  nature displaying deep green spring fields dotted with poppies. A captivating clear, blue sky that seems to be there deliberately for birdwatching and identifying raptors from their silhouettes. Large, uninhabited and little-visited spaces: nature reserves in their purest, untamed state. The thoroughly charming and very seldom frequented GR routes –the long-distance footpaths– as well as short-distance ones. Impressive natural viewpoints, locations chosen over the centuries to build hundreds of castles and fortresses in order to dominate the surrounding landscape and to blend with the environment of rocks and dust.

And, in between, small plots of vines, wineries, and a chance to chat with a winemaker over a nice glass of wine.
